On October 11, 2024, the GLB 101 course welcomed a special guest speaker, Elifnaz Sevim from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). During her presentation, Sevim introduced the mission of UNDP and its ongoing projects centered around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), explaining the critical importance of these goals in addressing global challenges.
Sevim provided valuable insights into why the UNDP places significant emphasis on the SDGs, highlighting the interconnected nature of the goals in promoting peace, prosperity, and sustainability. She shared the organization's key initiatives, showcasing how they are making a tangible impact in areas such as poverty alleviation, climate action, and gender equality.
One of the most exciting aspects of Sevim’s talk was her focus on how students can get involved in the ongoing projects at UNDP. She outlined various opportunities for students to contribute their skills, knowledge, and passion to help advance the SDGs, encouraging them to take an active role in shaping a sustainable future.
The session was both enriching and transformative, offering students a deeper understanding of the global efforts and inspiring them to become part of the solution.
