Bahar Özay, Turkey Coordinator of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), gave a crash course on Quality Education- SDG 4 on Friday, November 28, at Abdullah Gül University. The course is established as a part of the Global Issues and Responsibilities curriculum.
The GLB 101 course, which is open to all AGÜ students and the public, focused on Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4): Quality Education, one of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
In her talk, Özay assessed the current status of SDG4 both in Turkey and globally, emphasizing that quality education is a cornerstone of sustainable development. She underlined that equal opportunities in education, accessibility, quality, and inclusiveness directly influence the achievement of all other Sustainable Development Goals.
During the interactive discussion with students, Özay stated that SDSN closely follows Abdullah Gül University’s sustainability efforts and highlighted the university’s important role in raising awareness among young people on sustainability-related issues.
This session, organized in collaboration with UN SDSN, aimed to increase public awareness of the critical role of quality education in achieving sustainable development goals and provided participants with a broad perspective on the global sustainability agenda.
