AGU Hosts 8th “Sustainable Pedal Movement” to Promote Sustainable Development Goals

11 Dec 2025

The eighth edition of the “Sustainable Pedal Movement” was held on 24 October 2025 at Abdullah Gül University (AGU), organized in partnership with AGU, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Spor A.Ş., and Kayseri Provincial Traffic Inspection Branch Office. The event was carried out within the scope of the GLB 205 Sustainable Cities and Communities course and aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).

Open not only to students enrolled in the Global Issues and Responsibilities curriculum but also to all AGU students and faculty members wishing to participate, the event aimed to raise public awareness on healthy living, carbon emission reduction, clean energy, and sustainable urban development.

Starting at the RHG Enertürk Energy Stadium, participants cycled through some of Kayseri’s largest and busiest avenues—including Osman Kavuncu Boulevard, Kocasinan Boulevard, and Erkilet Boulevard—before arriving at AGU’s Sümer Campus. The cycling route was designed to draw public attention to global sustainability challenges.

Following the ride, a seminar was held in the Rectorate Conference Hall, where Dr. Ahmet Baş delivered a talk on “Sustainable Transportation and Urban Planning.” Dr. Baş highlighted the crucial role of urban planning and sustainable transportation systems in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and fostering long-term urban resilience.
