2024-2025 Fall Semester GLB 101 Final Competition Winner Announced

The GLB 101 course at Abdullah Gül University (AGU) is the first course in the GLB curriculum, designed to introduce students to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a multidisciplinary and holistic approach. This course, which is taken by first-year students from all departments, enables students to attend lectures taught by faculty members from different disciplines, engage in interdisciplinary teamwork, and gain knowledge about the first seven Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.

As part of the GLB 101 course, students formed multidisciplinary teams of 4-5 members to develop innovative project ideas focusing on two selected goals from the first seven SDGs. At the end of the semester, the teams presented their ideas through 3-minute video presentations. Finalists were selected among the groups, and in the last week of the semester, the winning team was chosen through an open vote by all GLB 101 students and faculty members.

This semester, the finalists were selected among 23 sections and 114 groups. The finalists and their video topics were as follows:

  • Section 2: Berkehan Aydoğan, Neslihan Şahin, Selen Varkara, Özgür Demir – SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy)
  • Section 3: D. Nida Zıvdır, Eslem Camgöz, Momen Aslan, Hüseyin, Zişan – SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy)
  • Section 11: Muhammet Tokuç, Volkan Gün, Şevval Gömeç, Zeynep Su Semiz – SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation)
  • Section 17: Rajan Jıbrıl, Zeynep Seçgin – SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation)
  • Section 19: Fatmagül Aratcelfe, Yagut Azimzade – SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality)

The Winning Team

After the open voting, the winning team was Section 11, consisting of Muhammet Tokuç, Volkan Gün, Şevval Gömeç, and Zeynep Su Semiz. They won with their video presentation analyzing the relationship between SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). We congratulate our students and their instructor, Kamil Aydın, and wish them continued success.

The GLB 101 course has been successfully completed as a strong reflection of AGU’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, while also fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and social awareness among its students.
